Inpatient Rehabilitation
(Inpatient Ward at Teddington Memorial Hospital).
The inpatient rehabilitation unit, Cedars at Grace Anderson ward, is located at Teddington Memorial Hospital.
Patients are either admitted from home or from a local acute hospital, (such as Kingston Hospital, St George’s or Epsom Orthopaedic Centre) and include people requiring rehabilitation after a fall, fracture or stroke. The unit also supports those needing short-term care for intravenous medication or while a care package is organised.
An individual programme of rehabilitation is given depending on needs, to enable people to fulfil their rehabilitation potential and independence. This includes the physical, psychological and social aspects of rehabilitation with the ultimate aim of each person returning to his/her own home.
Our team
Our 25-bed rehabilitation unit provides nurse/therapy-led rehabilitation for adult patients in Kingston.
The team comprises GPs, nurses, health care assistants, ward receptionists, pharmacist, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and a dietician. We also work closely with other clinicians including speech and language therapists, social workers and psychology staff.
Specialised therapy services
The therapy services serving the wards are part of the wider adult therapies service that works within Your Healthcare’s integrated services. They also dovetail with the therapists in other local hospitals and the therapists working in health and social services in Kingston and neighbouring boroughs.
Therapists are based both at Hollyfield House and Cedars Unit and are managed by a principal therapist.
