Pulmonary Rehabilitation
You can call us on 020 8274 4120
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a highly evidence-based specialist exercise and education programme for people living with chronic lung disease who are limited by symptoms such as breathlessness.
When you have a lung problem – especially a long-term one – you can find it difficult to move around or do your normal daily activities without getting breathless. Breathlessness can be very frightening. This means that people with a lung problem often avoid situations where they might become breathless and so reduce the amount of activity they do.
The programme helps you to be able to do more, feel less breathless and learn how best to manage your lung condition, making you feel fitter and stronger.
Who we are
We run an 8-week pulmonary rehabilitation programme that takes place twice a week at Surbiton Health Centre. The class is run in groups of 10 to 12 people and is led by our specialist respiratory physiotherapists and exercise technicians.
The service is available to patients with the following diagnoses who have had a recent flare up that required hospital treatment:
- chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- asthma
- interstitial lung disease (ILD)
- bronchiectasis
Tailor-made programmes
Our pulmonary rehabilitation team will guide you through a tailor-made programme and regularly review your progress to help you achieve your goals. You will be offered an encouraging, stimulating, and compassionate environment to learn supporting exercises to improve your overall health and condition.
