The Infection Prevention service protects the health of service users, their carers and families. It is also responsible for ensuring that healthcare staff are protected from infectious disease and healthcare associated infection (HCAI). This is achieved through the promotion on good infection prevention and control practice as a core component of high quality health care.
The service is primarily involved in infection prevention and control policy development, audit and staff training.
The role also requires close working with Estates and Facilities to ensure the provision and maintenance of a clean, safe environment for health care. Also that infection prevention is considered in all service development and premises development activity.
For relatives of patients being cared for at Tolworth Cedars unit who have concerns and questions please ask the ward staff to contact the Infection Prevention Control Nurse Specialist.
