You Said, We Did

Improving Together

All feedback is important to us. It helps us to develop and improve our services so we can provide the best quality care.

Compliments are always welcome, but if we are unable to meet your expectations for any reason, we will explore what went wrong, do all that we can to put things right, and try to make sure the same thing doesn’t happen again.

Rehabilitation Ward

You said: “I feel in my mother’s case it may have benefited her to be a little more physically active on a regular basis.”

We did: Activities were introduced in the morning, and we reached out to Age Concern for volunteers to support additional activity on our rehabilitation ward.

Health Visiting

You Said: “I think the way we found out about the session was difficult, it would be good to improve the process of registration and the marketing of the course as it was really useful.”

We did: We looked at the wording of the letter about the classes and made plans to promote the class through posters in appropriate places such as children’s centres.

School health

You said: “It might be helpful for the training to come with a recommendation that it takes place in a staff meeting to ensure staff can all attend and have the time set aside to do so.”

We did: A pre-recorded session with the offer of a live Question and Answer section is now established, and communications to schools have been clear so that staff members can access the training at a time that suits them.

Children’s speech and language

You said: “It can be lonely on a waiting list and we feel a bit helpless. Is there anything we can do to help our daughter while we’re waiting?”

We did: Our children’s speech and language therapy team developed a programme of support, advice and information for families of children on the waiting list – delivered across social media platforms. Initial feedback has been excellent.

Community Neuro Rehabilitation

You said: “The rehab group in the onsite gym was great. It has really helped me with my symptoms. I’ve come to the end of my sessions but I’m not comfortable gong to a public gym and am worried I’ll be referred again if I don’t keep up the exercises.”

We did: Our community neuro rehab team recognised the benefits of people with long-term neurological conditions exercising regularly. People discharged by the team are now offered continuing exercise classes in the specialist Your Healthcare gym, overseen by an exercise therapist, for a small fee. Re-referrals back to the NHS have dropped and clients report improvements in both physical and mental wellbeing.

Contraception and Sexual Health

You said: “I find it difficult talking on the phone about personal things. I’m worried someone might overhear. Especially at home.”

We did: The ‘Firetext’ texting system, showing message history, was introduced to encourage young people to engage with the service. Firetext allows different triage nurses to continue the conversation over a number of days if needed, preventing delays in accessing treatment and advice.
